COMMON QUERIES
VenaSeal is a minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins that uses a medical adhesive to permanently seal the affected vein. Unlike heat-based treatments, it does not require multiple anaesthesia injections, compression stockings, or large incisions, making it a comfortable and efficient option for vein closure.
VeneSeal is primarily used to treat any condition with underlying venous reflux, such as varicose veins or chronic venous insufficiency (CVI).
You may be an ideal candidate if you have:
✔ Symptomatic varicose veins or venous reflux disease.
✔ Preference for a quick, minimally invasive procedure.
✔ Desire to avoid compression stockings after treatment.
Prior to any treatment, a vascular specialist consultation is necessary to confirm suitability.
✔ Minimally invasive – No heat or large incisions.
✔ No need for compression stockings – Unlike other vein treatments.
✔ Fast recovery – Most patients can return to normal activities almost immediately.
Step 1: Numbing the Access Site
A small amount of local anaesthesia is applied to numb the area where the catheter will be inserted.
Step 2: Guided Catheter Insertion
A thin catheter is carefully inserted into the affected vein using ultrasound imaging for precise placement.
Step 3: Adhesive Delivery
The VenaSeal medical adhesive is carefully delivered inside the vein, sealing it permanently shut.
Step 4: Catheter Removal & Bandage Application
Once the vein is sealed, the catheter is removed, and a small bandage is applied to the insertion site—no stitches are needed.
The procedure itself generally takes between 30 and 60 minutes, and additional treatments (such as removing bulging varicose veins or treating spider veins) can sometimes be performed during the same session It is typically performed on an outpatient basis, meaning most patients can go home the same day and return to normal activities quickly.
VenaSeal is generally well tolerated with minimal discomfort. Unlike heat-based procedures (such as laser or radiofrequency ablation), it does not require multiple anesthesia injections, reducing pain and discomfort.
✔ Resume normal activities immediately – No downtime required.
✔ No need for compression stockings – Unlike other vein treatments.
✔ Mild bruising or tenderness may occur but usually resolves within a few days.
✔ Strenuous activities should be avoided for about a week.
VenaSeal is a safe and FDA-approved procedure, but potential risks include:
